VISIT SHIRLEY® AT THE DRAPERS SUSTAINABLE FASHION CONFERENCE

Drapers Sustainable Fashion Conference 2023 is around the corner, and this year we are delighted to be joining the ‘Supply Chain Sustainability – The Human Element’ panel on Tuesday 28th March.

Lucy Murphy, Business Development Manager, joins fashion brands such as PUMA and M&S in discussing how the fashion textile industry can drive positive progress amongst its many challenges when it comes to global supply chains. Lucy’s background is in buying and textile manufacturing, having worked previously for some of the most renowned home textile brands and fashion houses. Her expertise centres around identifying and evidencing sustainability attributes within global textile supply chains.

Sustainability within textile supply chains is crucial for many reasons, but perhaps the most important is the impact it has on the people involved in the process. The textile industry employs millions of people around the world, predominantly in countries where working conditions are limited or non-existent.

It’s important these issues are addressed to not only improve the lives of the people involved in making our clothes, but also for the end consumer and our environment. It’s vital that global supply chains are reducing waste by implementing environmentally friendly production processes, improving health and safety at work, and promoting socially responsible working conditions at production sites.

OEKO-TEX® certification by Shirley® is a way of communicating supply chain due diligence and process control as a means of monitoring compliance, tackling the textile industries most pressing challenges.
